North Karnataka Expressway Limited (NKEL)  has been promoted by IL&FS , IL&FS Transportation Networks Limited (ITNL) and Punj Lloyd Ltd (PLL) for rehabilitation and strengthening of existing 2 lanes from Km. 515+000 to Km. 592+240 and widening thereof to 4 lane dual carriageway on Belgaum – Maharashtra Border section of National Highway no. 4 (NH – 4) including service road in the State of Karnataka under the Annuity Approach on Built – Operate – Transfer (BOT) basis, through private sector participation and utilizing private financial resources.

The Concession Granter of the Project is National Highways Authority of India, Government of India. The Project is a part of “Golden Quadrilateral” the Most Prestigious National Highway Development Programme undertaken by Government of India.
